Daniel Eric Halsteter Obituary
Daniel Eric Halsteter, known to everyone as Eric, passed away on May 24, 2026, in Citra, Florida, at the age of 56, leaving behind a life that was as warm, funny, and generous as it was unforgettable.
Born on August 8, 1969, in Rantoul, Illinois, Eric grew up with a spirit that seemed to arrive fully loaded with charm, mischief, and a sense of humor that could brighten even the dullest room. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, and he used it often. Eric never met a stranger, which is another way of saying that if you stood still long enough, he would somehow have you laughing and feeling like you had known him forever. He was funny, loving, and friendly in the truest sense of those words, and he carried those qualities with him everywhere he went.
Eric spent more than 10 years as the owner of Pro Mows landscaping company, where he built not only a business but a reputation for hard work, reliability, and kindness. He approached his work with the same steady spirit he brought to life in general. If something needed doing, Eric got it done. If someone needed help, he was there. If someone needed a laugh, well, that was practically his specialty. He was the kind of man who could make a long day feel shorter and a tough problem feel a little less serious, which is a rare and valuable skill in any profession.
Outside of work, Eric enjoyed boating, bonfires, and soaking in the pool, all activities that suited his easygoing nature and love of simple pleasures. He especially treasured spending time with his girls, and those moments were among the most meaningful in his life. He was a contemporary Knight in Shining Armor, always willing to help anyone, and he wore that title with the kind of humble confidence that made it true. He did not need a cape or a dramatic entrance. He had something better. He had a big heart, a ready smile, and the kind of presence that made people feel safe, seen, and entertained all at once.
Eric is survived by his wife of 40 years, Tina; his daughters, Alysha Deiuliis and her husband Rob, and Julie Oddo and her husband Alex; his siblings, Wendy Audas, Ted Halsteter, and April Hurlburt; his father, Joseph; many nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancee. The family he leaves behind will remember not only the years they shared with him, but also the countless moments of laughter, loyalty, and love that made those years so rich.
Though his passing leaves a deep absence, Eric’s memory will continue to bring smiles, stories, and laughter to all who loved him. His life was a reminder that being strong does not require being stern, that being kind is never out of style, and that the best kind of hero is the one who shows up, lends a hand. Eric did all of that and more. He will be missed beyond measure and remembered with affection, gratitude, and plenty of well-earned laughter. He lived with humor, loved with sincerity, and helped others with a generosity that never seemed to run out.
