Denise Genevieve Dijak, affectionately known as Denise to her friends and family, left this world on September 28, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on July 14, 1951, in the bustling borough of Brooklyn, New York, Denise grew up to be a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her warmth, compassion, and vivacious spirit. She passed away peacefully in Ocala, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.

Denise was the cherished wife of Matthew Mahon, and the two shared a love that was both profound and inspiring. Her devotion to her family knew no bounds, and she will be deeply missed by her sister Stephanie Warnesky, her brother-in-law Dennis, her nephew Jason Warnesky and his wife Colleen, her niece Lynn Warnesky-Baker and her husband Evan Baker, and her grandnephews Jackson and Clayton Warnesky, all of whom she adored.

An alumna of Manville High School in Manville, New Jersey, Denise went on to pursue higher education with a passion for social justice and human connection. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey, followed by a Master's in Social Work from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Her academic achievements set the stage for a career dedicated to helping others.

Denise’s professional life was marked by her commitment to the field of social work. She was a practicing social worker who eventually retired as a facilitator in Special Education within the State of New Jersey Education System. Her unwavering dedication to the welfare of others and her ability to advocate for those in need were hallmarks of her career.

A true Francophile, Denise's love for all things French was evident in her fluent French language skills and her time-share in the picturesque town of Menton, France. Her travels brought her great joy, and she embraced every opportunity to explore new cultures and locales with her beloved husband, Matt. Denise's enthusiasm for life was infectious, and she was known for her fun-loving, energetic, and outgoing nature.

Reading was one of Denise's favorite pastimes, a hobby that allowed her to journey through countless worlds and experiences. She was also an exceptional hostess, known for organizing memorable parties for all occasions, where her radiant smile and laughter would light up the room. Her love for riding horses was another facet of her multifaceted life, providing her with moments of peace and connection with nature.

Above all, Denise cherished the time she spent with her family. Her presence at family gatherings was a source of joy and comfort, and her influence on her grandnephews was profound, as she instilled in them the values of love, kindness, and the importance of family.
