Dwane Wesley Hyer Obituary
In loving memory of Dwane Hyer
Dwane Westley Hyer, 52, of New Smyrna Beach Florida, passed away on September 5, 2026, doing what he loved the most, protecting his family. Dwane was born on September 4, 1974, to Gary Hyer “Father” and Juanelle Griggs “Mother” in Daytona Beach, Florida. Dwane grew up in Deland alongside his sister Sheree Davis. Dwane attended Coco Beach high school. Years later he proudly achieved his diploma.
He leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work, a generous spirit, and an absolute love for the open water.
A dedicated concrete contractor by trade, Dwane was known for his strong work ethic and highly skilled hands. However, those who knew him best knew he was a true jack-of-all-trades. There was very little in this world he couldn’t figure out how to fix if he worked on it long enough. Whether it was a household problem, a project around the house, or a challenge on a job site, his determination, and clever mind always won out. He was the first person people called when they needed a hand, and he never hesitated to show up for others. When he wasn’t working or figuring out his next project, Dwane was happiest anywhere near the ocean. Saltwater fishing was his absolute passion. While he loved the thrill of heading far out for deep sea fishing, Dwane would cast a line anywhere he possibly could. If there was saltwater and he had a pole, he was going to fish—whether that meant spending the day out on a boat, standing underneath the bridge at the park, or casting right off a dock. The water was his sanctuary, and the stories of his catches and the great times shared by the water will be cherished forever.
Dwane brought a quiet strength, a brilliant mind for solving problems, and a warm heart to everyone in his life. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten by his family, friends, and all the people whose lives he touched and repaired along the way.
Dwane was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Seavy and Myrtle Griggs “Papawl” and “Grandma”.
Paternal grandparents Raymond and Evelyn Hyer “PawPaw and MawMaw”.
Former Spouse “Crystal Cates-Hyer” who is the mother of his 3 beautiful children.
Dwane is survived by his loving wife, Janene Swiger-Hyer. His 4 children, Haley Hyer, Nolan Hyer, Logan Hyer, and Emalee Swiger. His sister Sheree Davis -(husband John Davis) His half brothers Andrew Hyer and Brandon Hyer, as well as many more extended family; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends even his beloved pets especially “Willow” who was his dog. She never was more excited to see anyone more than him!
Dwane Will forever be loved, deeply missed and always remembered by every life he blessed. May Heaven shine all the brighter with your beautiful soul.
Matthew 25:21 “well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
