Edward Carroll Beard Obituary

Edward Carroll Beard, known affectionately to friends and family as Ed, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, in Ocala, Florida. Born on December 26, 1937, in the quaint coastal town of Penzance, England, where he lived during WWII. After the war ended, his family moved to America. Ed was only 8 years old. Ed's early years growing up in Massachusetts were regarded as a very happy childhood. The values he cultivated during his youth laid the foundation for a life full of meaningful relationships and heartfelt endeavors.

Above all, Ed was a family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Margery, and her two grown children, with whom he built a life filled with joy and mutual respect. Ed’s three grown children, Shelley Brooks (Chris), Scott Beard, and Brian Beard. Ed's legacy continues through his 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the lessons and love he so generously shared. Ed's only sister, Kathy Cutlip (Ralph), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a community of friends, will fondly remember his caring and kind spirit.

To know Ed was to experience a friendship that was steadfast and true. His ability to listen, to empathize, and to offer a helping hand whenever needed made him a good friend to all who knew him. Ed raised his family in Medina, Ohio, where he retired from Ford Motor Company as a pattern maker. Later in life, he made his home in Ocala, Florida. There, he became a cherished member of the Southwest Christian Church community. His warm smile and friendly demeanor made him the perfect greeter, a role he took to heart with enthusiasm. Ed's presence on Sunday mornings was as reliable as the sunrise, and his genuine care for each person who walked through the church doors was a testament to his loving nature.

Ed's creativity shone brightly through his talent as a woodcarver. His intricate pieces were not only a testament to his skill but also a reflection of his patience and attention to detail. Ed was a motorcycle and vintage car enthusiast and collected antique model cars, each piece a treasured part of his love for craftsmanship and history.

As we bid farewell to Edward Carroll Beard, we celebrate a life well-lived —a life filled with laughter, love, and a gentle kindness that will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as his presence enriched our lives. Ed's journey on this earth has ended, but he loved the Lord, and his eternity in Heaven is secure. The story of his impact on the world around him will continue to be told for generations to come.
