Emray Franklin Poulson Jr. Obituary

Emray Franklin Poulson Jr., known fondly to friends and family as Emray, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023, at the age of 80 in Summerfield, Florida. Born on July 31, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Emray was a man whose life was characterized by his loving nature and courageous spirit. Emray proudly served his country as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army, a role that imbued his life with a sense of purpose and camaraderie. His dedication to service was unwavering and left a lasting impact on those who had the honor of serving alongside him. Upon retirement from the military, Emray continued to demonstrate the same commitment and zeal in his personal endeavors.

Family was the cornerstone of Emray's life. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Diana Cortes, and his cherished stepchildren, Michaela Schwarz, and Carol Martin. His sister, Ginny Poulson also remains to honor his memory. Emray's legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Marcus Poulson, Vanessa Schwarz, and Cameron Baker, and his three great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Emray Poulson Sr. and Carrie James, his sister Cindy Jackson, and his loving wife, Marianne Angelika Poulson, with whom he shared a profound and enduring love.

Emray was a man of many interests and talents. His passion for bingo was well-known, and he relished the camaraderie and excitement of the game. Later in life, he discovered a talent for wood carving, which allowed him to express his creativity and craftsmanship. An avid shopper, Emray took great pleasure in finding the perfect items, whether for his home, his car collection, or as gifts for his loved ones. He also loved to watch action movies and listening to music. He took immense pride in caring for his home and his vehicles, ensuring that everything he owned was maintained with the utmost care and attention to detail.

Emray's character was the epitome of loving and courageous. His warmth and generosity touched the lives of many, and his bravery, both in military service and in life, served as an inspiration. He faced challenges with fortitude and always with a positive outlook. In the quiet moments, when we feel the absence of his booming laughter and see the empty seat at the bingo hall, we will smile, remembering the joy he brought into our lives. Emray's journey on this earth has concluded, but his story marked by dedication, love, and courage will be recounted for generations.

Emray Franklin Poulson Jr. lived a full life, one that serves as a testament to the enduring power of love and the strength of the human spirit. As we honor his memory, let us celebrate the man who gave so much of himself to his country.
