Eugene Ramsey, a man of profound faith and love, passed away peacefully in Ocala, Florida, on
November 24, 2023 at the age of 90. Born July 22, 1933, in Jackson, Kentucky, he was the cherished son
of the late John and Gwendolen Ramsey.
Eugene was a devoted husband to Euvenna Smyth Ramsey for 68 blissful years. His love for his wife was
immeasurable, and she was indeed his world. He was a loving father to Robert Eugene Ramsey, Karen
Ramsey Smith, and Tressa Ramsey Bissette (Chris). He was a proud grandfather to Bradley David
Ramsey, Hunter Ramsey Smith, Vanessa Brooke Batchelor, Shelby Alexandra Batchelor, Michael
Bissette, and Ashley Bissette Ramsey. In addition, he is survived by his brother Dale Ramsey and sisters
Janice Ramsey Safe and Carolyn Ramsey Reiff along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded
in death by his grandson Eric Eugene Ramsey, daughter-in-law Beth Braswell Ramsey, his parents and 8
brothers and sisters.
Following his service in the Army, Eugene had a successful career with Bridgestone/Firestone Tire and
Rubber Company. His work ethic was commendable, and he was respected by his colleagues for his
dedication and commitment.
Eugene was a passionate lover of God and life. His love for music was evident in his guitar playing, filling
his home with melodies that warmed the heart. He even wrote and sang a song about his love for his
wife and the life they built together. His faith was a central part of his life. He was a dedicated member
to the Church of God for over 60 years and read the Bible from “cover to cover” an incredible 136 times.
His faith-filled life was an inspiration to all.
He was a pillar of strength to his family, always there to listen and give good advice. His dependability
and wisdom was one of his defining characteristics which provided support in every situation. The love
for his family was the essence of his being and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Eugene’s passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memories will forever be a source of
comfort and inspiration for those who had the honor of knowing him. His life was a beautiful journey
that touched many hearts and he will be deeply missed.
A celebration of his life will take place at Living Waters Church in Ocala, Florida on November 29, 2023
with visitation at 10am and funeral at 11am. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell,
Florida at 2pm.
