Euvenna Smyth Ramsey Obituary

The most beautiful love story where Heaven gained two angels. Eugene Ramsey, a man of profound
faith and love, passed away, and within six days of losing her devoted husband, Euvenna Smyth Ramsey
joined him in Heaven. Both died peacefully, surrounded by their children and loved ones. Eugene and
Euvenna were married 68 blissful years and became a testimony to everyone they met. Their love for
each other was immeasurable and they were indeed each other’s world.
Both were loving parents to Robert Eugene Ramsey, Karen Ramsey Smith, and Tressa Ramsey Bissette
(Chris). They were the proud grandparents of Bradley David Ramsey, Hunter Ramsey Smith, Vanessa
Brooke Batchelor, Shelby Alexandra Batchelor, Michael Bissette, Ashley Bissette Ramsey, Belen Ortiz,
and Easton Ortiz. In addition, Eugene is survived by his brother Dale Ramsey (Teresa), and sisters Janice
Ramsey Safe and Carolyn Ramsey Reiff, along with several nieces and nephews.
They were both preceded in death by their parents John and Gwendolen Ramsey, Shelby, and Mary
Smyth, along with grandson Eric Eugene Ramsey, and daughter-in-law Beth Braswell Ramsey. In
addition, Eugene had 8 brothers and sisters to precede him and Euvenna had 11 brothers and sisters
that preceded her in death.
Following his service in the Army, Eugene had a successful career as a supervisor with
Bridgestone/Firestone in Wilson, NC. Euvenna was employed with General Motors in Ohio before
becoming a full-time mother, staying home to raise her babies. They were both dedicated to the Lord
and their family they built together, instilling the love of God into their children’s and grandchildren’s
hearts.
Eugene’s love for music was evident in his guitar playing, filling his home with melodies that warmed the
heart. He even wrote and sang a song about his love for Euvenna and the life they built together.
Euvenna was passionate about creating a loving home where they both provided for the needs of their
family. They were dedicated members to the Church of God for over 60 years. Eugene and Euvenna both
taught Sunday School and Eugene had proudly read the Bible from “cover to cover” an incredible 136
times. Their faith filled life was an inspiration to all. Together they were pillars of strength to their family
and were always there to listen and give good advice. Gene’s dependability and wisdom was one of his
defining characteristics. Euvenna’s love and enthusiasm for life helped make the perfect combination for
an eternal bond.
Their passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but their legacy will live on through their children and
grand children who were privileged to call them Daddy, Momma, Daddy Gene, and Grandma/Momma
Bean.
The memories we share will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who had the honor
of knowing them. They had a beautiful journey and made a lasting impact of every person they touched.
