Harris Chand Obituary
Harris "Chandy" Chand, a cherished family man, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, in Ocala, Florida at the age of 55. Born on June 23, 1970, in New Amsterdam, Guyana, Harris was a beam of light in the lives of those he touched, bringing joy through his generous spirit.
Harris is survived by his loving wife, Nayara, and his adoring children, Navita Crystal, Avita Kristina, Avendra Harris, Akhil Liam, and Anaiya Devi Chand. He also leaves behind his former wife, Satie Chand, his devoted mother, Gangadai Chand, and his caring siblings, Vishnu, Balman, and Kavita Chand. His father, Neville Rudolph Chand, and his brother, Randy Chand, preceded him in death, and we find comfort in the belief that they have welcomed him with open arms.
From a young age, Harris had a knack for entrepreneurship and a passion for bringing people together. He owned and operated his own ice cream refreshment business, known affectionately by the community as "the ice cream man." His truck was more than a source of sweet treats; it was a mobile hub of happiness, where friendships were formed, and laughter was shared. His was a familiar face that parents trusted and children looked forward to seeing, a testament to his character and the love he had for his community.
Harris was a devout Hindu, living his life with a deep sense of spirituality and purpose. His faith guided him in his daily actions and was evident in the kindness he extended to all. Harris's interests were as rich and varied as his personality. An avid cricketer, he found camaraderie and joy on the cricket field with his team in Ocala. His love for the ocean was profound; he cherished every opportunity to swim in its vastness, embracing the freedom and tranquility it offered.
Music played a significant role in Harris's life, providing a soundtrack to the many moments he shared with friends and family. Cycling through the trails of Marion Oaks, he found solace in the simple pleasure of a bike ride, often reflecting on the beauty of the world around him. Above all, Harris's greatest passion was his family. He poured his heart into every interaction, every shared meal, and every moment of laughter. The time he spent with them was sacred, and his dedication to their happiness was unwavering.
Known for his giving nature, Harris was the embodiment of loyalty and dependability. He was the first to offer help, never seeking recognition, only the satisfaction of easing another's burden. His resourcefulness was legendary, often finding solutions where others saw none. Harris wore his heart on his sleeve, and his big heart was his most defining trait, touching lives and leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he met.
Harris "Chandy" Chand's legacy is one of love, service, and joy. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the gentle echoes of his kindness that will continue to resonate in the community he loved so dearly. Though he has left this earthly realm, the essence of who he was remains, a guiding light for all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Harris will be profoundly missed, but the sweetness of his memory will forever linger, much like the aftertaste of his beloved ice cream, in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
