Inocencio Vargas Obituary

Inocencio (Roy) Vargas

July 4, 1936 – March 8, 2023

Born in Patillas, Puerto Rico, Roy was the beloved husband of Maximina Sanchez.  Pre-deceased by his first wife Andrea Vargas, Roy was a devoted father to their children Nancy (Manny) Fragale, Nelson Vargas, Yvette (Nino) Carrasquillo; loving grandfather to Jennifer (Jason) Shah, Jayson Carrasquillo and Caleb Carrasquillo and devoted and loving great-grandfather to Gabriella Shah and Alexander Shah.

Roy joined the U.S. Army in 1954 and served during the Korea War.  A proud veteran, he enjoyed wearing his many Korea War Veterans caps everywhere he went.  After his honorable discharged from the Army, he moved to New York City and retired as an MTA New York City Transit Collections Agent.  After his retirement he moved to Ocala and enjoyed life in Florida.

He loved the Lord, he became a Chaplain, preached, sang Christian songs, and read Christian poetry at the church he attended.  He loved his church and the many brothers and sisters in the Lord.  His favorite Psalm was Psalm 91.

Making people laugh was a daily mission for him, he had a knack for jokes and loved playing pranks on his family and friends, he enjoyed playing dominoes and bingo with his family and breaking out into songs, most specifically singing `Granada’ in his great and beautiful tenor voice.

He lit up a room with his presence and his beautiful smile, he will be remembered and cherished by all who loved him.  Roy will be honored in a memorial service at his church, Iglesia Las Huellas del Maestro 5946 SE Magnolia Road Belleview, FL 34420 on Saturday, April 1st at 11:00 AM.  A service and interment with military honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery on Monday, April 3rd at 10:30 AM.

Fly high with the angels Papi, we love you and miss you so very much.

His Lord said to him, `Well done, good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of your Lord.’ Matthew 25:23
