Jacqueline Denise Ellington, a beacon of love, kindness, and generosity, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2023, in Ocala, FL. She was born on June 15, 1964, in Memphis, TN, and throughout her life, she touched countless lives with her warmth, compassion, and dedication to teaching.
Jacqueline, known to many as a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister, is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Ben McCoy, and their children, Vernard Britt III (Gertrica), Kendrick Ivy (Yesenia), Tevon Ivy (Brooke), Brandon McCoy (Reggie), Bryan McCoy (Mayla), Bianca McCoy, Colby McCoy, and Dominque McCoy. She also leaves behind her beloved mother, Dorothy Carter, and sister, Sepora Ellington (Robert), eight granchildren, two grand dogs Chop and Zeus ,along with a host of other relatives and close friends.
Jacqueline was a proud graduate of Grand Canyon University, where she earned her Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum, and Instruction. A dedicated educator, she devoted 35 years of her life to teaching, shaping young minds, and inspiring a love for learning in her students. Her commitment to education was unwavering, and her impact on her students was profound and lasting.
Beyond her professional life, Jacqueline had a zest for life that was infectious. She loved to shop and could often be found tending to her garden, her hands deep in the earth as she nurtured her plants with the same love and care she gave to her family and students.
Jacqueline's love for the beach was unparalleled, where she found peace in the rhythmic sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun on her skin. She was a culinary enthusiast who found joy in the kitchen, creating meals that were a testament to her love for her family. Her home was often filled with the sounds of her favorite artist, Anita Baker, and the laughter and stories of her loved ones. Jacqueline was also an avid dancer, her spirit coming alive on the dance floor.
But above all else, Jacqueline cherished her family. She was happiest when her house was full, brimming with the sounds of her children's laughter, the shared stories of her husband, and the comforting presence of her mother and sister. She was the heart of her family, a source of unconditional love, and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
