James Joseph Dunn, known lovingly as Joe, passed away on September 28, 2026, in Summerfield, Florida, at the age of 69.

 

Joe was born on September 8, 1957, in Miami, Florida, and he carried the spirit of South Florida with him throughout his life. He was a man whose faith, kindness, and steady presence were evident to all who knew him. Joe lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a generous heart. He was the kind of man who could fix what was broken, lend a helping hand without hesitation, and make others feel welcome and cared for. Those who knew him best will remember him as handy, loving, and generous, three words that reflect the way he moved through the world.

 

As a teenager, Joe lived on Miccosukee tribal land with his father James  and sister Cindy, an experience that remained a meaningful part of his life story. Those years helped shape his appreciation for family, resilience, and the simple joys of life. He carried those memories with him always, along with a deep love for the outdoors. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, and he also enjoyed going to the beach, where he found peace and happiness in the beauty of nature and the warmth of the Florida sun.

 

Joe was preceded in death by his father, James, and his mother, Betty. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen, who stood by him through the years with love and devotion. He also leaves behind his children, Kimberly, Jennifer and her husband Justin, Rachel and her husband Mike, and Joshua and his wife Shannon, all of whom brought him great pride and joy. Joe was a cherished grandfather, and his grandchildren were a treasured part of his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Cindy and Debra, along with their children, who will hold his memory close in the years ahead.

 

Family was at the center of Joe’s life, and he gave his love freely and faithfully. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around him. His family will remember his warm smile, his practical wisdom, and the quiet ways he showed his care. Whether he was offering advice, sharing a story, or simply being there when needed, Joe made a lasting difference in the lives of those he loved.

 

Joe’s life was one of sincerity, service, and enduring love. He will be remembered for his strong hands, his kind heart, and the many ways he enriched the lives of others. Though he is no longer with his family in body, his memory will remain a source of comfort and strength. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the family he helped build.
