James David Ellis, affectionately known as JD to his friends and family, lived a full and vibrant life from the day he was born on July 26, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, until his peaceful passing on November 26, 2025, in Ocala, Florida. JD's legacy is a testament to his enduring love for his family, his unwavering dedication to his country, and his passion for life's simple joys.

JD's journey through life was marked by a profound commitment to service. He retired as a Navy Chief Petty Officer, having honorably served his nation for over 30 years. His patriotism and valor were not only evident in his military career but also in his daily interactions with those around him. In his personal life, JD was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Kitty, with whom he shared a love that was deep and unwavering. Together, they created a family that was the center of JD's world. He was a guiding light to his children, Stacey Bay (David), Angela Mamaril, and Jason Ellis, teaching them the values of integrity, resilience, and compassion. His grandchildren, Jarrod, Justen, Zakary, Austin, Trinity, Savanah, and Dylan, will remember him for his playful spirit and the wisdom he imparted. JD also leaves behind his caring siblings, Dennis, Mark, Doug, and Mike. He was preceded in death by his son Michael, whose memory he cherished with great love and tenderness, and his sister Barbara.

He was an avid golfer, often found on the courses throughout Marion County, where he not only perfected his swing but also forged lasting friendships. His presence at the golf course brought laughter and camaraderie. JD's social nature extended beyond the greens. He enjoyed engaging with neighbors and friends. With his beloved parrot Bella perched on his golf cart, he was a familiar and welcome sight in his community. His storytelling, often accompanied by Bella's squawks, and he had a unique gift for making everyone he met feel special. His generous spirit was felt by all who knew him.
