Jerome Wicker Obituary

Jerome Wicker Jr., known affectionately as LJ, to his friends and loved ones, passed away on January 29, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and dedication. Born on December 28, 1970, in Lorain, Ohio to the late Marsha and Jerome Wicker Sr.  Jerome's journey through life was marked by his unwavering spirit and his ability to bring joy to those around him.

After graduating from Admiral King High School in 1989, Jerome took a path of service, joining the United States Army, where he demonstrated his commitment to his country and the values he held dear. Following his military service, he found his calling as an ultrasound technician for Sperry Rail, where he played a critical role in ensuring the safety of railroad tracks, a testament to his attention to detail and care for the well-being of others.

Jerome's life was guided by his passions. His love for sports was unparalleled, with a particular devotion to his hometown teams—the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Guardians and the Ohio State Buckeyes. These teams not only brought excitement into his life but also served as a backdrop for the countless memories he created with family and friends.

His infectious laugh and larger-than-life personality made him a magnet for friendship and camaraderie. Jerome had an extraordinary ability to make friends wherever he went, and his presence was a source of comfort and happiness for many. He was the life of every gathering, and his absence will leave a void that cannot be filled.

Family was the cornerstone of Jerome's world. He is survived by his loving wife Kimberly and his cherished children, Isaiah, Jerome III, Tasha, Julissa, and Malik, as well as Kathereen. His stepchildren, Briana and Eddie Jr., were also a vital part of his life. Jerome's sister, Tracy Anthony (Cedric), and nephews, Denzell and Isaac, will hold dear the memories of the times they shared.

An avid cook, Jerome delighted in preparing meals for his family, infusing each dish with love and care. His joy in cooking was paralleled by his pleasure in hitting the open road on his Can-Am Spyder, feeling the freedom of the journey and the wind against his face.

Jerome Wicker Jr.'s legacy is not only in the extraordinary life he led but also in the love he shared and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire joy and kindness in the hearts of his family and friends. Jerome's journey through life may have ended, but his spirit will forever ride on in the stories and laughter he leaves behind.
