Michelena Browne, nee Papalia. Michelena was the beloved Mother of Karen Gianfrancisco and
John Browne, Jr. Proud Grandmother to Sam Jefferson Gianfrancisco. Fond Aunt to many
nieces and nephews and devoted cousin to many. She was predeceased by her parents, Sam
and Rita Papalia and her brother Louis Papalia.
“Mickey” was a friend to many and could always be counted on for her exceptional wit, humor
and uncanny ability to bring laughter and joy to others. A woman for and with others, she was
relentless in her pursuit to give of herself and help all around her. A Mother who knew no
bounds, she supported her children with every opportunity and impressed upon them that they
could accomplish anything. Mickey was a champion for others, always building up the
confidence of those around her with her encouragement and care for others.
She attended Providence St. Mel High School and later worked over 30 years as an Executive
Assistant at Pace Suburban West Town. She will be remembered as someone who was always
thinking of others. She volunteered for years at Vitas Hospice where she made quilts and hats
for those in need.
For the last 25 years, she has been retired in Florida and enjoyed endless friends and hobbies.
Mickey could always be counted on to dominate any card game, dominoes and her love of
gathering around for a meal filled with laughter and friendship. Mickey was a talented crafter,
and her creative expression was enjoyed by many.
She will be missed by all and her beautiful smile and spirit will live on.
