Milagros Vázquez Díaz, age 67, a resident of Ocala, Florida, entered the presence of the Lord on November 6, 2025. She was born on March 20, 1958, in Humacao, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Alipio Vázquez and Margarita Díaz, whom she lost at an early age.

Milagros grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings Julia, Virginia, Mercedes, Efraín, Robert, Ramón, Rosa, Consuelo, and all her nieces and nephews. She studied at Ana Roque High School in Humacao, where she formed many friendships and values that accompanied her throughout her life. Her first job was as a cashier at a local supermarket, and later she worked at HIMA San Pablo Hospital, where she held various administrative positions until her retirement. She decided to retire to dedicate herself completely to her family, which was always her greatest passion.

Milagros was a woman of unshakable faith, loving, humble, kind, funny, and generous. She was a devoted wife, an exemplary mother, and a loyal friend. She lived for her family and to serve others. Among the many things she enjoyed were cooking, singing, tending to her garden (even though the flowers always seemed to give up before she did), and spending time with her loved ones.

One of her greatest accomplishments was founding, alongside her husband, the Liga de Baloncesto Cristiana (Christian Basketball League) a project focused on helping underprivileged youth in Puerto Rico. Its mission was to help keep young people on a path of good decisions through faith, keeping them away from the streets and focused on their education, sports, and above all, on God. The league impacted many lives in athletic, spiritual, and professional levels. Milagros’s life was a testimony of service, devotion, and love.

Milagros found joy in life’s simplest moments. She loved asking her son to put on a movie only to fall asleep five minutes later. Or sitting at the “hot table,” where the whole family gathered to laugh and talk about anything and everything. She enjoyed watching her soap operas (novelas), especially the Turkish ones, even though no one quite understood why, and welcoming family and friends into her home to cook for them with love. Sundays were her favorite days, when she attended church and joined the worship group with her daughter Erika, always giving her heart completely. She was always proud to call Erika and Esdras (her beloved son, as she would often say) her pastors.

In the last years of her life, she devoted herself entirely to caring for her husband and family with admirable strength and devotion. Her life was a reflection of sacrifice, faith, and unconditional love.

She is survived by her husband Edwin, her daughter Erika, her sons Edwin Jr., to whom she dedicated her life ensuring he was always well, safe, and happy, and Eric, as well as her beloved grandchildren Sebastián and EJ, who will always remember her tenderness, sense of humor, and the warmth of her love.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, at Ocala Funeral & Cremations, located at 720 S Pine Ave, Ocala, FL 34471, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Milagros left a life lasting  mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of faith, love, and service will live forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

 

Milagros Vázquez Díaz, de 67 años, residente de Ocala, Florida, partió a la presencia del Señor el 6 de noviembre de 2025. Nació el 20 de marzo de 1958 en Humacao, Puerto Rico, hija de Alipio Vázquez y Margarita Díaz, quien perdió a temprana edad.

Milagros creció rodeada del amor de sus hermanos Julia, Virginia, Mercedes, Efraín, Robert, Ramón, Rosa, Consuelo y todos sus sobrinos y sobrinas. Estudió en la Escuela Superior Ana Roque en Humacao, donde formó muchas de sus amistades y valores que la acompañaron toda su vida. Su primer trabajo fue como cajera en un supermercado local y más adelante trabajó en el Hospital HIMA San Pablo, donde desempeñó varios cargos administrativos hasta su jubilación. Decidió retirarse para dedicarse completamente a su familia, la cual fue siempre su mayor pasión.

Milagros fue una mujer de fe inquebrantable, amorosa, humilde, bondadosa, divertida y generosa. Fue una esposa devota, madre ejemplar y amiga leal. Vivía para su familia y para servir a los demás. Entre las muchas cosas que disfrutaba se encontraban cocinar, cantar, cuidar de su jardín (aunque las flores siempre parecían rendirse antes que ella) y pasar tiempo con sus seres queridos.

Uno de sus mayores logros fue haber fundado junto a su esposo la Liga de Baloncesto Cristiana (LBC), un proyecto enfocado en ayudar a jóvenes de escasos recursos en Puerto Rico y que tenía como meta mantener la juventud en un camino de buenas decisiones atreves de la fe y al alejarlos de las calles, enfocados en sus estudios, en el deporte y, sobre todo, en Dios. La LBC impacto muchas vidas a nivel deportivo, espiritual y profesional. La vida de Milagros fue un testimonio de servicio, entrega y amor.

Milagros encontraba alegría en los momentos sencillos de la vida. Le encantaba pedirle a su hijo que le pusiera una película solo para quedarse dormida a los cinco minutos. O sentarse en la “mesa caliente” donde se reunía con toda su familia para hablar de todas sus ocurrencias. Disfrutaba ver sus telenovelas, especialmente las turcas, aunque nadie entendía del todo por qué, y recibir a familiares y amigos en casa para cocinarles con amor. Los domingos eran su día favorito, cuando asistía a la iglesia y participaba  en el grupo de adoración junto a su hija Erika, siempre entregando su corazón por completo.  Siempre se sintió orgullosa de poder llamar a Erika y Esdras (su hijo amado como solía decirle), sus pastores.

Los últimos años de su vida los dedicó totalmente a cuidar de su esposo y de su familia con una entrega y fortaleza admirable. Su vida fue un reflejo de sacrificio, fe y amor incondicional.

Ante su partida le sobreviven su esposo Edwin, su hija Erika, sus hijos Edwin Jr., a quien dedicó su vida asegurándose de que siempre estuviera bien, seguro y feliz, y Eric, además de sus amados nietos Sebastián y EJ, quienes siempre recordarán su ternura, su sentido del humor y la calidez de su amor.

La celebración de vida se llevará a cabo el sábado 15 de noviembre en Ocala Funeral & Cremations, ubicado en 720 S Pine Ave, Ocala, FL 34471, de 5:00 p.m. a 6:00 p.m.

Milagros dejó una huella imborrable en todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla. Su legado de fe, amor y servicio vivirá por siempre en los corazones de su familia y amigos.
