Paul Julius Hill Obituary
Paul Julius Hill, 77, of Ocala Florida gained his wings on July 8, 2025, after an unexpected brief health battle.
He was born on August 31,1947 in Bennington Vermont to Julius and Pauline Hill.
Paul's journey was marked by a passion for adventure, enthusiasm for life and a career that spanned nearly five decades.
Paul grew up in Sunderland Vermont where he spent a lot of time at the Hill Farm Inn, which was owned and lovingly operated by his grandparents. He attended grade school at the one-room schoolhouse right next door, often joking that he could never get away with skipping school. He then went on to graduate from Burr & Burton Seminary, class of 1965. He received his associate's degree from College of St. Joseph in 1967.
Paul's zest for life was evident in his varied interests and hobbies. A regular at the rodeo, his excitement was palpable as he cheered on the riders, a reflection of his own adventurous spirit. Outings to the zoo and amusement parks were treasured moments for him.
Paul's love of racing started when he was a boy. He very much enjoyed NASCAR, stock car races and running his own go-karts, winning several trophies at Turkey Trot Track. He shared his love for speed and competition with anyone who would listen.
Paul also loved classic cars and trucks. Auto shows, where he could chat about and admire other enthusiasts' vehicles was yet another place you could find him. He was a great mechanic himself and a great auto body man back in the day.
Horseback riding, hunting, snowmobiling and camping allowed Paul to connect with nature and enjoy the simpler things in life.
His ability to square dance was matched only by his skill with the guitar, a memory that his three daughters will always cherish. He played in several bands throughout the years that brought music and merriment to many. Paul's infectious laughter and love of socializing made him the life of the party.
Paul's 49-year career as a respected truck driver began as soon as he finished trucking school in Oklahoma. He bought his first truck almost immediately and could not have been more excited. It was a "shanty shaker", used for transporting mobile homes. He spent many years hauling oversized loads and eventually moved onto driving regular semis for companies that included Johnson Controls, Vermont Container and M&M Transport.
Paul was most proud of the fact that he had a perfect driving record throughout those 49 years of driving big rigs. An accomplishment not many can claim.
His strong work ethic and dedication were as solid as the trucks he masterfully operated. His camaraderie with fellow truck drivers was a source of great pride and fellowship.
Paul's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of almost 30 years, Cora H. Hill, who was by his side through many of life's adventures; his daughters Carol Broadhead (David), Samantha Hill (Albert), Paula Hill (Wally); and their mother Victoria Hill; his stepsons Joseph Towsley (Heather), Billy Jo Towlsey and Shawn Towlsey (Jen); his grandchildren Hollie, Hunter, Mason, Maia, Harmony, Emma, Nichole, David Jr., Aaliyah, Mikal, Demitryus, David and Angelica; brother Allan Hill (Barbara), sister Janice Hill-Gould and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Paul was predeceased by his son Ronald Benjamin Hill (1973).
As we bid farewell, we take comfort in the knowledge that his journey was a fulfilling one. Paul's story is not one of sorrow, but a celebration of a life well-lived.
