Mrs. Peggy Mae Huffines, 71 of Ocala, FL passed away on April 29, 2025, at her home. A native (Born and Raised) in Burlington, NC. She was the daughter of the late Willie Jackson and Elula Mae Jones Huffines. Peggy retired as a waitress; she loved people. She was outgoing, funny, and feisty. Her nicknames were “little Firecracker: and “Peanut”

She enjoyed bowling, bingo walks int the park, and taking road trips up and down the East Coast, mostly for the Beaches. She loved the Beach, her favorite place to go was St. Augustine. She was a strong believer in the Lord. She was a Christian and had the strongest Faith. She is known to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother (Nana), great grandmother, sister, aunt, and a great friend to many.

She was the happiest when she was with Family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Peggy was a beloved mother of Kimrey Ann Hill, Mary Elizabeth Blount, Melissa Pauline Smith Cook, and Tracy Ada Ruse. Survivors include her significant other of 17 years Thomas W. Brooks; her daughters Kimrey Ann Hill, Mary Elizabeth Blount and husband Howard, Tracy Ada Ruse and husband Leveat, and her loving grandchildren; Kimrey Nicole Martin Montoya, Amber Victoria Blount, Sarina Cook, Christina Cook, John Cook Jr., Jene Banita Ruse, Avery Elizabeth Ruse, Shephard James-Anthony Ruse and her great grandchildren- Liam Thomas Montoya and Sophia Rose Murillo, her sisters Kathy Lee, Alice Deese and husband Gary, Robin Brantley and husband James, and Tammy Cable and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Melissa Pauline Smith (Cook) and her sisters Linda Clark, JoAnn Rudd, Willie Mae Oldham, and ger grandson Travis Lee Blount. Peggy wishes was cremation with family and Stardust memorials at her favorite places followed by a “Celebration of Life” with family and friends.
