Richard Allen Nowaczynski, known to family and friends as Rick, passed away on August 29, 2026, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 67.

 

Born on April 16, 1959, in South Bend, Indiana, Rick lived a life marked by devotion, warmth, humor, and a deep love for the people and places that mattered most to him. He carried himself with a steady presence and a kind heart, and those who knew him will remember the way he could brighten a room with his smile and his easygoing spirit. He was affectionately nicknamed Smiley because he was always smiling, a reflection of the cheerful personality that so many came to cherish.

 

Rick was a devoted family man whose loved ones always came first. He shared 47 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ellen, and together they built a life centered on love, loyalty, and family. He was a proud father to his son, Richard Jr., and a loving grandfather to Jasmine, Dannikah, and Serefina. He also cherished his great-granddaughter, Renessmae, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald, and Ronald’s wife, Joann, along with his nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. His faithful dogs, Bella and Shorty, were also dear companions who brought him comfort and happiness.

 

Rick found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and felt a sense of freedom and peace on the open road. He loved nature and being outside, where he could appreciate the beauty of the world around him. He especially enjoyed taking cruises and traveling to different places, embracing the opportunity to see new sights and make lasting memories. Whether at home or away, he lived with a spirit of adventure and appreciation for life’s experiences.

 

Those who knew Rick will also remember his sense of humor and playful nature. He was a jokester who loved to make others laugh, and he had a gift for bringing lightheartedness to any moment. Other children called him Santa Claus because of his beard, a nickname that reflected both his appearance and the warmth he brought to his family. He was also known as a humanitarian, a man whose compassion extended beyond his immediate circle and into the lives of others. His generous heart and caring nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

 

Rick’s life was one of devotion, laughter, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of family devotion, joyful memories, and a life lived with sincerity and heart. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His smile, his humor, his love of the outdoors, and the many ways he showed up for his family will be remembered always.
