Roger A Mays Obituary

Roger A. Mays, a kind-hearted, adventurous, and passionate man, was born on July 8, 1957, in Dayton, OH, and passed away on July 10, 2023, in Ocala, FL. Known for his tireless work ethic, love for travel, and zest for life, Roger's legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Roger was the cherished father of Misty "Mays" Watters and Aaron Mays. He was the beloved brother of Diana Mays Dearth and Deborah Mays Terry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Beverly Mays, whose values and principles shaped him into the remarkable man he became.

Roger was a devoted worker who spent the majority of his career as an over the road driver. For over 36 years, he navigated the highways and byways of this country, his truck becoming his second home. His love for his job was evident in his dedication and perseverance, regardless of the challenges he encountered on the road. Roger's work not only allowed him to provide for his family but also fed his adventurous spirit, giving him the opportunity to explore the vast landscapes of our nation.

While Roger was passionate about his work, he also found joy and fulfillment in his hobbies. He was a skilled mechanic who enjoyed rebuilding cars in his spare time. The meticulous attention to detail that he brought to his work was also evident in his hobby. Each car that Roger worked on was a testament to his patience, skill, and love for the craft. He brought life back to old, forgotten vehicles, mirroring his ability to find beauty and value in the most unexpected places.

Fishing was another of Roger's much-loved pastimes. The quiet serenity of a calm lake or the rhythmic lull of the ocean waves provided the perfect backdrop for contemplation and relaxation. His love for fishing was not just about the thrill of the catch, but also about the peace and tranquility it brought him. His fishing rod was often his companion during his travels, allowing him to explore the diverse aquatic life across the country.

Roger was more than his work and hobbies, though. He was a kind soul who treated everyone with respect and kindness. His warm smile and welcoming nature made him a beloved figure in his community. His adventurous spirit was contagious, inspiring those around him to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new experiences.

His passion was not only evident in his work and hobbies but also in the way he lived his life. He was a man who truly lived, who embraced each day with enthusiasm and positivity. He found joy in the simple things in life and never missed an opportunity to express his gratitude for the blessings he received.

In remembering Roger A. Mays, we celebrate a life profoundly lived. A life marked by kindness, adventure, and passion. A life that touched many and left an indelible mark on this world. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his life, remembering the joy, inspiration, and love he brought into our lives. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come.
