Ronald G Wright, 81, of Ocala, Florida passed away peacefully on April 12, 2023. He was surrounded by family over the last days of his life. Ron grew up in Canaan, Maine. The son of Graydon and Inez Wright. Ronald played football for Skowhegan Area High School and was later admitted to their Football Hall of Fame. He could still recite the plays they used over 60 years after his last game. He spent hours on the field and later on the sidelines as he watched his grandson play for the same team. Ron proudly took over the family business after serving in the Army. He ran Wright’s Variety in Canaan for many years. He employed many locals, including his children at the store. It was a spot where regulars hung out discussing the local news as they ate steamed hot dogs and drank coffee. After selling the store, Ron spent 15 years of his life as a long haul truck driver. He drove countless hours across the United States. He knew almost every route on nearly every road. After retirement, Ronald developed a love for woodworking. He worked for hours in his woodshop making the most amazing pieces of furniture. His family will cherish those for years to come. Ronald was predeceased by his parents, two siblings, Paul and Elizabeth Wright, and his son, Graydon “Deke” Wright. He is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Diane Avery Wright. Ron also leaves behind his sister, Norma Hall, and sister in law, Jean Wright Axelson and her husband Wayne. In addition, Ron leaves his two daughters Angela Currier of Lisbon, Kelly Wright of Biddeford, his step-daughter Liane Bonilla and wife Daisy of Ocala. They all have a very special bond with Ron, and will miss him greatly. Although no longer together, Ron’s first wife, Susanne Wright Ashland, has always been family and will forever be grateful for the gift of their children. Ron was deeply loved by grandchildren and great grandchildren, Hope Currier, Joshua Alexander, Kaila Fickett and husband Scott, Kelsey Currier, Cameron Leighton, Annabelle Berube and Iris Hughes. They love and will miss their papa very much. Ron’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at E.W. & Lucille Cates House, especially his nurse, Maria Henderson, for their loving care. They will forever be in our hearts. There will be no funeral services. Ron’s family would like to ask those wishing to express condolences, to do so by spending time with those you love. Make memories, love with all your heart, and live with no regrets.
