Sammie Earl Hollon, known to many as Sam, passed away on August 31, 2026, in Ocala, Florida at the age of 77. Born on September 26, 1948, in Campton, Kentucky,

Sam carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and family with him throughout his life. He worked in the agriculture department at the University of Kentucky, and later in life as a commercial roofer and landscaper. Sam was a man who met life on his own terms and those who knew him understood that while he could be contrary at times, his heart was deeply rooted in love for the people closest to him. He lived a life marked by determination and persistence.

Sam spent his years building a life defined by perseverance and devotion to those he loved. He found joy in the simple pleasures that meant the most to him like fishing and spending time hanging out with his buddies. His easygoing nature was reflected in those moments spent outdoors with those closest to him. He valued companionship, conversation, and the kind of friendship that lasts through the years.

Family was central to Sam’s life, and he took great pride in the people who carried his name and his memory forward. He is survived by his sons, Michael (Camitra) and Tony (Samantha); grandchildren, Callee, Samantha, Tristan, Benjamin, Kaden, Tessa, Austin and Anna; siblings, Paul, Maggie, Monirae, David, Adrian and Mary; a host of nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren; friends who became family, Renee and Melissa. He was preceded in death by his parents Omer and Beulah; grandson, Michael Jr.; sister Eleanor. Their memory remained a part of his life, and he carried the bonds of family with him always.

Sam will be remembered for his straightforward manner, and the love he had for his family. He was also dependable, genuine and faithful in the ways that mattered most. Those who were fortunate enough to know him will remember his presence, stories, and the unmistakable way he made his feelings known. The lessons he left behind were not spoken only in words, but in the example of a man who was industrious, caring, and remained true to himself. Sam’s life was one of quiet strength, honesty and endurance. He will be dearly missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
