Selma Kabchefsky

Selma Kabchefsky, a beacon of love and creativity, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, at the age of 93 in Ocala, Florida. Born on January 9, 1931, in the Bronx, New York, Selma's life was a rich tapestry of family, art, and joyous gatherings that spanned an incredible nine decades.

Selma was a woman whose heart was as expansive as her years. She was a loving, caring, and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of warmth and affection. Selma is survived by her adoring children, Linda Sneider and her husband Steve, Renee Kaminsky and her husband Jack, and Paul Kabchefsky and his wife Nancy. She was the cherished grandmother to Scott Sneider (Rachel Lee), Jamie Sneider(Mike Wicke), Allyson Sneider (Casey Shifrel), Michael Kaminsky (Cara), Eric Kaminsky, Dana Kaminsky, Camilo Hernandez, Gary Kabchefsky, and Alex Kabchefsky. Selma's great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness, include Hayden Sneider-Wicke, Ryder Sneider-Wicke, Addison Sneider, Bryson Sneider, Blake Kaminsky, and Noah Kaminsky.

Throughout her extraordinary life, Selma found solace and expression through her artistic endeavors. Her hands were rarely still as she created beautiful works of oil painting, intricate crocheting, and delicate needlepoint. Each piece she crafted was a testament to her attention to detail and her passion for bringing beauty into the world. Her creative spirit will live on through her art, cherished by all who were lucky enough to receive a piece of her work.

Selma's zest for life extended beyond her artistic talents. She was an avid poker player, her sharp mind and keen sense of strategy making her a formidable opponent at the card table. Those who knew her will fondly remember the lively poker nights filled with laughter and friendly competition. Shopping was another of Selma's favorite pastimes, and she had a remarkable knack for finding the perfect gift for every occasion, a skill that brought joy to many.

Above all, Selma's unwavering love for her family defined her. She was the matriarch who brought everyone together, her home a hub of activity for holidays, celebrations, and countless Sunday dinners. Her guidance and wisdom were the cornerstones upon which her family built their lives. Selma's nurturing presence will be deeply missed but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family for generations to come. As we bid farewell to Selma Kabchefsky, we do so with gratitude for the time we were granted with her and with the knowledge that her legacy of love, art, and family will endure. Her passing is not an end, but a celebration of a life that was truly remarkable.
