Stephen Mark Griffith Obituary
Stephen Mark Griffith, known affectionately as Steve or "Griff" by his friends, family and former coworkers, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2024, in Clermont, Florida. He was also a seasonal resident of Sylva, NC since 2004. Born on December 9, 1942, in Vincennes, Indiana, Steve's 81 years of life were marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his passion for the great outdoors, and a successful career that blended his skills and interests.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Patti, his daughters Jane Ann Griffith and Jennifer Griffith Howell, son-in-law Chris Howell, and his cherished grandson Ben Howell. He also leaves behind Linda Griffith, whose shared memories with Steve will continue to be a source of comfort and joy for the family.
Steve served in the Army Reserves, where he exemplified the virtues of loyalty and service. His professional life as an Advertising and Marketing Executive was marked by creativity and leadership, leaving a lasting impact on the people he worked with in the industry he loved. Steve also received his Masters Degree while working full time at The Orlando Sentinel.
Steve's zest for life was evident to all who knew him. He was a man who found his greatest happiness in the simple pleasures of being surrounded by nature. An avid boater and water skier, he relished every opportunity to be on the water, feeling the wind on his face and the warmth of the sun. Family trips often involved spending extensive time outdoors, where Steve would enthusiastically engage in walking, biking, hiking, and swimming. His adventurous spirit led him to embrace activities such as zip lining and whitewater rafting, always with a smile and a bit of mischief.
It was this love for adventure that kept Steve young at heart throughout most of his retirement years. He believed in the importance of family and making the most of every opportunity life presented. As Steve often said "there are no problems, there are only opportunities".
The legacy that Steve leaves behind is one of love, laughter, and the importance of family. He was a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and the heart of many cherished family gatherings. His stories, often filled with humor and lessons learned from a life well-lived, will continue to echo in the lives of those who knew him.
Though Steve's journey on earth has come to a close, his spirit remains an indelible part of the lives he touched. He fought his battle with lymphoma and leukemia with the same courage and dignity that characterized his entire life.
Steve's warmth and humor will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
As we say farewell to Stephen Mark Griffith, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
