Theresa Thorington Obituary

Theresa LeAnn Thorington, affectionately known as TC to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at her home in Fort McCoy, Florida. Born on December 16, 1967, in Cortland, New York, TC was a vibrant soul whose warmth and generosity touched all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the love she carried in her heart and the joy she found in simple pleasures.

TC's early years in Cortland were filled with the laughter and camaraderie of a close-knit family. She grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings, Penny and her husband Speedy Cook, Cher, and brothers Andy and Porky. The bonds she formed in childhood only deepened with time, providing her with a foundation of support and kinship that she cherished throughout her life.

Her journey led her to Fort McCoy, where she became a beloved member of the community. TC's home was always open, her kitchen a hub of conversation and comfort food. She became a mother figure to many, taking everyone under her wing with a kindness that knew no bounds. Her children, Jimmy, Faith, and LeAnna, were her pride and joy, and the light of her life extended to her grandchildren, Kyla, Karter, and Eleanor. TC's love for her family was unmatched, and she instilled in them the values of compassion and resilience. Though preceded in death by her mother Lois and her cherished daughter Tasha, her sister Brenda and nephews Jon and Ben her legacy of love lives on through her family.

TC's spirit of adventure was most evident when she was riding Harley Davidsons, feeling the freedom of the open road. Her best dog friend Bear was often by her side, sharing in her adventures and her quiet moments at home. TC had a passion for life that was contagious, and her laughter was a melody that resonated in the hearts of her loved ones.

Her long-time friend Randy Beaver and best friend Gina stood by her through thick and thin, sharing countless memories that will be treasured forever. Their bond was a source of strength and joy for TC, and their presence in her life was a gift that she never took for granted.

A woman of many interests, TC found tranquility in doing crossword puzzles and a sense of peace while walking along the beach. She had an uncanny ability to solve the most challenging puzzles, a metaphor for her approach to life's obstacles. Her love for her cats, along with Bear, showcased her nurturing spirit and her capacity for unconditional love.

TC's sister Cher, brother Andy, and the numerous nieces and nephews that brought her so much happiness will miss her deeply. Her dear friend Edith, who preceded her in death, will now be reunited with TC in a place of eternal peace.

Each person who had the pleasure of knowing Theresa LeAnn Thorington will remember her for the love that was always in her heart. She was a beacon of kindness, a pillar of strength, and a source of laughter. As we say goodbye to TC, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the countless ways in which she made our world a better place. Her legacy will continue to inspire us, and her memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
