William “Frank” Rowell, 70, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 26, 2026, at 7:14 a.m. at Grace Davis Hall House of Ocala in Ocala, Florida, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born on October 13, 1955, to John Chester Rowell and Betty Lou (Owens) Rowell at Hialeah Hospital in Hialeah, Florida, Frank lived a life shaped by creativity, craftsmanship, and a deeply soulful spirit.
Frank was a gifted and artistic man whose talents could be seen in everything he touched. Early in life, he worked as a professional welder, where he learned the skills and techniques to also transform steel and scrap metal into meaningful and sentimental artwork. Later, he became a meticulous and highly respected commercial and residential painter, known for his precision and pride in his work where he also utilized his skills beyond his trades. He had a unique ability to turn the ordinary into something beautiful, whether shaping roots and logs into art or creating striking landscapes and home interiors that reflected his vision and care.
He was incredibly soulful and deeply spiritual, carrying an unwavering faith throughout his life. Frank loved music, and those who knew him will always remember him singing, whistling, or dancing along to “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay,” whether at a gathering or simply in a moment of his own. His joy for music was genuine and contagious.
Frank openly loved and acknowledged Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, a faith that remained with him throughout his life and gave him strength, peace, and purpose.
In his final days, Frank shared words that reflected the heart of who he was. He said, “I’m happy that I have people standing around me. Even though I’m not seeing them in the flesh right this second, I know you’re all here with me.” He also reflected, “I don’t know the whole purpose of things, but I’m really glad I was born. I’m glad that I got to experience life with everyone I love. There’s no feeling like love.”
These words capture the essence of Frank’s life; one rooted in love, connection, and gratitude.
He also had a special place in his heart for the dogs he cared for over the years, loving them as his children and finding companionship and comfort in their presence.
More than anything, Frank loved his family. That love was the core of who he was; steady, soulfully deep, and enduring. He wanted to be remembered not for any mistakes he may have made or what he created with his hands, but for the love he gave and the love he felt for everyone.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lou (Owens) Rowell; his stepmother, Mary Jane (Delaet) Rowell; his brother, John Edward Rowell; and his sister, Katherine “Katie” Sue (Rowell) Woods.
He is survived by his father, John Chester Rowell; his sisters, Mary L. (Rowell) Dennison, Brenda J. (Rowell) Otis, and Patricia (Rowell) Taft; his step-sister, Vicki Williams; his step-brothers, James Williams and Robert Baker; as well as seven nieces and ten nephews. He is also survived by his lifelong friend and extended family member, Larry Shinfeld, who remained a constant presence in his life.
Frank’s life was one of quiet creativity, deep faith, and genuine love. He leaves behind not just memories, but a lasting impression on the hearts of those who knew him.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held close.
No public service will be held.
