William Jason Smith Obituary

William Jason Smith, known affectionately to friends and family as Jason, passed away on February 5, 2024, at the age of 46 in Ocala, Florida. Born on May 4, 1977, in Lake City, Florida, His bright blue eyes reflected not just his outward charm but also the depth of character within.

Jason's life was one marked by a keen intellect and a playful spirit. He was an avid chess player, whose strategic thinking on the board mirrored his approach to life's challenges—thoughtful, precise, and always several moves ahead. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing and canoeing, activities that not only brought him peace but also a sense of connection to the natural beauty of Florida.

Beyond his interests, Jason's innate ability to tinker made him the go-to person for fixing anything that was broken. He found joy and contentment in working with his hands, a skill that he often put to good use during family barbecues and get-togethers. These gatherings were made all the more special by his talent for cooking, as he delighted in sharing his culinary creations with those he held dear.

Those who knew Jason can attest to his remarkable intelligence and analytical mind. He was a person who could dissect complex problems and articulate solutions with remarkable clarity. His humor was equally noteworthy; Jason could effortlessly bring a smile to anyone's face, making every moment spent in his company a joyous one.

As an amazing mentor, Jason's guidance was sought by many. His wisdom was dispensed with a kindness and humility that made him not just a mentor but a cherished friend. His ability to listen and offer sage advice was a gift to those who had the privilege of learning from him.

Jason's legacy is carried on by his beloved family. He is survived by his father, Coven Altrue Smith; his sisters, Christina Lynn Glover, Cheri Smith-Hudson and Amy Rowell; his niece, Amanda Torres; and his nephew, Anthony Muniz. Each of them will forever hold onto the memories of his wise counsel, his infectious laughter, and his generous spirit. He is preceded in death by his mother Belinda Ann Statham and his brother Eddie Smith.

Wise and funny, Jason's presence was a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew him. His traits of wisdom and humor defined him as much as his blue eyes and his love for life's simple pleasures. While his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, the imprint he made on the hearts and minds of his family and friends is indelible.

Jason lived a life that exemplified the virtues of kindness, intelligence, and humility. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the remarkable man he was. His was a life well-lived, full of purpose, joy, and an abundance of love. Jason's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the countless stories and shared experiences that continue to inspire and comfort us all.
