Wilton George Munda Obituary

Wilton George Munda, known fondly to friends and family as George, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, in Ocala, Florida. He was a beacon of joy and strength, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. Born on Valentine's Day in 1945, in Kingston, Jamaica, George's life was a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and the importance of family.

George's journey led him from the sun-kissed shores of Jamaica to the bustling streets of New York, where he spent many years as a respected bus driver with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his skill and artistry as a jeweler, a craft he honed with precision both in New York and the United Kingdom.

At home, George was the cherished husband of Jean, his beloved wife of 50 years. Together, they raised a vibrant family, including their children Nigel, Winston, Kimberly, Jason, Leonard, and Maxine. George's role as a patriarch extended to his adoring grandchildren—Jerome, Shayla, Serene, Ethan, Elliot, Tiana, Cerise, Tasia, Kevianne, Joelle, and Jamaal—and his great-grandchild, Ray'yan. His siblings, Sonny and Puncy, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends, also survive him. Each one benefited from his wisdom, humor, and boundless care.

George's passions were as warm and inviting as his personality. He loved to cook, creating dishes that were as much a feast for the soul as they were for the palate. Music was another of George's great loves, and it was not uncommon to find him humming along to his favorite tunes. An avid swimmer, he found solace and joy in the water, a reflection of his island roots.

Above all, George was known for his infectious humor. He was a joker, always ready with a quip or a playful tease, yet he balanced his mirth with a compassionate and caring nature. His ability to be stern when the moment required showed the depth of his love and his commitment to guiding his family with both discipline and kindness.

George's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of joy, hard work, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a man who lived life to the fullest, cherished every moment, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

As the sun sets on George's earthly journey, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives he touched. His laughter will echo in our memories, his lessons will guide our paths, and his love will remain a cornerstone of our family. Rest in peace, George; your legacy endures
